Attendance Schedules

Types of Attendance Schedules
Spark allows you to create three types of attendance schedules:
General Attendance
Used for tracking daily school or classroom attendance. These schedules are always created as sets and can be customized for entire schools, specific classes, or individual students.
Examples:
- Fall 2025 Attendance
- Spring 2026 - Mondays Only
- Half-Day Attendance
- Mrs. Smith’s Classroom Attendance
Activity Attendance
Used for tracking attendance for specific classroom or extracurricular activities. These schedules can also be created on the Assignment Calendar and can be one-time activities or recurring sets.
Examples:
- Piano Lessons
- Math Tutoring
- Art Class
- Culinary Workshop
School Event Attendance
Used for school-wide events that require attendance tracking. These schedules can also be created on the School Calendar and can be one-time events or recurring sets.
Examples:
- Parent/Teacher Conference
- Field Trip
- Back-to-School Meeting
Creating Attendance Schedules
- Navigate to Attendance:
- Go to Admin → Attendance → Schedule.
- Click "+ Add New Schedule" in the top right.
- Select the type of attendance schedule to create.
- General Attendance:
- Name the schedule and set the date range, time, and days of the week.
- Select attendees (students, staff, or guardians). Use + Add All in School or + Select Students for customization.
- Assign the schedule to a classroom and term.
- Click Save.
- Activity or School Event Attendance:
- Choose between a one-time event/activity or a recurring set.
- Select attendees (students, staff, or guardians).
- Enter relevant details such as term, classroom, and subject.
- For recurring events:
- Select a date range and days of the week
- Click Apply Pattern. Events will appear as pink blocks on the calendar.
- Modify or delete blocks by clicking on them.
- Click Create Activities to save.
- Activities appear on the Assignment Calendar, while School Events appear on the School Calendar.
Modifying Attendance Schedules
Editing from the Attendance Schedule Page
- Go to Admin → Attendance → Schedule.
- Click "Edit Schedules" at the top right.
- Click on the attendance block to edit, drag to a new date, or delete.
- Use Undo, Redo, or Discard to reset changes.
- Click Save once edits are complete.
Editing from the Attendance Modal
- Navigate to Admin → Attendance → Schedule and open a schedule.
- General Attendance and Activity/Event Sets appear in a list on the left.
- One-time Activities or Events appear only as pink blocks on the calendar.
- Go to the Schedule tab and modify dates by dragging and dropping, using the Shift buttons, or deleting entries.
- Add new dates by adjusting the Start/End Date or Days of the Week and clicking Apply Pattern.
- Click Save to confirm changes.
