Recording Grades

Recording Student Grades

You can either record student grades directly into the gradebook as needed, or grade assignments as they are submitted.

Grading an Assignment Submission

To grade an assignment that was created on the assignment calendar, follow these steps:

  1. Find the assignment submission and open it.
  2. Click Add Grade Entry.
  3. Use the Grade Assignments dropdown to ensure the correct grade class is selected.
  4. Enter the grade score and click the check mark to save.

The grade will be entered in the grade class and can be managed from there.

Entering Grades As Needed

To enter grades in a grade class without linking them to an assignment from the assignment calendar:

  1. Click into the grade class you want to edit.
  2. In the table at the top of the page, or in the Manage Assignments tab, click + Assignment.
  3. Name your assignment and click Save. It will then appear in the table.
  4. Enter the grades for each student next to their name in the table.

Managing Final Grades

Final grades are continuously updated and averaged for each class. The current average reflects the most recent grade entered.

Calculating Final Grades

The final grade, or current grade average, is calculated using a weighted average. Each assignment type has a specific weight, and the scores within that type are averaged together to produce a weighted score. The final grade is the sum of these weighted scores.

Viewing a Student's Final Grades

You can view a student's final grades or current grade averages either in the grade class or in the gradebook.

  • In a Grade Class:
    • Click through the list of students enrolled in the Student Details section.
    • When a specific student is selected, their grade average will appear in the Final Result section.
  • In a Gradebook:
    • Click on the picture of a specific student.
    • You’ll be able to view their grade in each class, along with their credits and GPA recorded below.

Customizing a Student's Final Grade

You have the ability to manually override the system's final grade calculation for a student.

To enter a custom final grade for a student:

  1. Click into the grade class.
  2. Select the student's picture.
  3. In the Student Details section, click the dropdown labeled Final Result Type and select Manual.
  4. Enter the student's final score percentage, credits, and GPA.
  5. Click Save.
